Everyone goes on about how secure (or un-secure) the online bingo websites are; when really, they should be questioning how secure the bingo halls are? Without too much trouble, Christian Grant, who was a caller for Gala Bingo in Gateshead, managed to bag £9000; for himself, and two of his lady friends.  Fortunately, he was caught with his fingers in the prize pot, and has since been sent to jail for nine months.

So, how did Christian Grant, 29, beat the system?  Easily, as it goes.  Let’s put it this way, he definitely wouldn’t of got away with it online.  Land based Bingo halls use a computer, to randomly generate numbers.  Christian simply changed the computer from random to manual.  Uummmm… very secure… lol.  By doing just that, he was free to call the numbers he and his girlfriends needed.  Charming…

Of course, the old saying goes, nothing is ever totally secure.. Well, unless its connected to NASA, or some similar such universe penetrating entity; far from the realms of our world.  Even so, this news must be causing people to begin questioning the integrity of Bingo halls up and down the country.  Is this an isolated case?  It would be somewhat remarkable if it was.  But hey, there’s always one… as they say.

The Bingo industry needs this kind of publicity, like a hole in the head right now.  It could be a case of, one bad apple rotting the whole barrel.  It wont be the first time.  It does seem incredulous, that in this day and age, a Bingo caller managed to beat the system…. with ease.Grant was only found out, because another player at the Gala Bingo hall became suspicious, and reported it.  As would any decent, self respecting player.  After all, these people weren’t just defrauding Gala Bingo, they were defrauding the other players too.

Of course, gala Bingo responded quickly, and all three of them pleaded guilty.  Even so, what have they done since then? To tighten up their security.  Anything?  If that was an online Bingo website, would they even still be open for business?  Would they even get a licence?
